Knitting has an unofficial rule: you’re either a lace knitter or a texture knitter.
Lace knitters get the airy, open shawls, and texture knitters get the depth.
North Shore skips that rule. This triangle shawl knitting pattern has both easy lace and subtle texture.
Chevron lace on stockinette keeps the shawl light and airy, while the textured bands add depth.
I have an undying love for chevron lace and have used it in many of my shawl patterns, like Afterglow and Everglow.
But for North Shore, I reduced it to its simplest form to keep the knitting extra relaxing and effortless.
The pattern is easy to follow with detailed stitch counts, and you’ll settle into the rhythm in no time.
You’ll need about 517 m / 565 yds of fingering weight yarn, or gather more and keep knitting until the shawl is the size you want.
I knit the sample in Sandnes Garn Sunday (100% Merino; 235 m / 257 yds per 50 g), but you can use your own fave.
Get the North Shore knitting pattern, then pick a fingering weight yarn you love and cast on.
