Lighthouse is a classic crescent with a modern touch.
Vertical eyelet bands dash dynamically through the garter stitch body towards the contrast colour border, creating a sleek & simple lace shawl.
You knit Lighthouse from the top down into a generous crescent shape that sits effortlessly on the shoulders and is easy to tie around the neck in numerous ways.
You can easily adjust the size and make the shawl as big or small as you want. For a bigger shawl, keep repeating the body section as long as you want. For a smaller shawl, make fewer body section repeats before starting the lace border.
And you can also modify the size of the lace border. Just add more repeats if you want more lace!
The pattern has both written and charted instructions, so you can use whichever you find easiest to follow.
You’ll need two colours of fingering weight yarn for Lighthouse. One skein of each colour is enough (colour 1: 378 m / 414 yds, colour 2: 171 m / 188 yds).
I used Lakes Yarn and Fiber Silk Single Fingering (70% merino wool, 30% silk; 398 m / 435 yds per 100 g), in colours Lutra (C1) and Sweet Clover (C2) for my shawl.
Wool and silk blends create an amazing drape, but Lighthouse would look equally good in a rustic woollen spun yarn. And why not even tweed!
