This shawl keeps you engaged from the first cast-on to the final bind-off. It begins with a soothing texture of stockinette and reverse stockinette ridges—simple, steady, and just what you need to unwind. Then, as you’ve found your rhythm, the lace diamond pattern takes over, adding just the right amount of intrigue to keep things exciting.
The result? A piece that will have you saying, “Thanks, I knit this myself” on repeat—whether you’re at brunch, running errands, or stealing the spotlight at your next knit night.
For the sample, I used Knitting For Olive Merino and Soft Silk Mohair together.
They create a beautifully soft, fluffy halo. You’ll need three balls of each to make the same-sized shawl.
Or, if you’re substituting, you’ll need about 650 m / 710 yds of (light) fingering-weight wool yarn and about 630 m / 689 yds of lace-weight mohair yarn.
Not a fan of mohair? No problem. Swap it out for your favourite fingering or DK-weight yarn for a shawl that’s just as stunning.
The size is easy to adjust, so you can make your shawl as big as you want. However, I recommend having at least 600 m / 656 yds to make the most of both stitch patterns.
