On the Road is a versatile and wearable crescent shape shawl. With eyelets and stripes decorating the garter stitch, this shawl is a fun and effortless knit with beautiful results.
Knitted from the top down with two colours of fingering weight yarn, the hardest part will be choosing your colours. Soft and subtle, or bright and bold… What’s your colour combo?
Yarn
Two colours of Lanitium ex Machina Silky BFL Sock (55% BFL wool, 45% silk; 400 m / 437 yds per 100 g), one skein of both colours. Shown in colours Fe26 (C1) and Destinations St. Petersburg (C2).
Or similar fingering weight yarn.
Amount of yarn
Colour 1 (C1): 304 m / 332 yds
Colour 2 (C2): 188 m / 205 yds
Needles
Size 4 mm / US 6 circular needle. Or size that gives you pattern gauge.
This shawl is worked flat but I recommend using an 80-100 cm / 32-40 inch circular needle to accommodate the growing number of stitches.
Gauge
20 stitches and 40 rows = 10 cm / 4 inches in garter stitch, before blocking
