Choose your own shawl adventure! The Mix & Match – Rivers is a collection of 3 shawl patterns: Seine, Elbe and Tiber. You can knit each shawl just as they are. But you can also mix and match by combining the body and border sections from the other shawls in the collection. With these 3 patterns, you can create 9 different shawls!

All the shawls have a textured body and a simple lace border, and they are interchangeable. You can mix any of the 3 textured body sections with any of the 3 lace borders. All the math is done for you, so all you need to do is choose your combo of body and border and simply follow the instructions.

The price includes all 3 shawl patterns and the instructions to mix and match.

Elbe

Elbe charms with clean and contemporary look. The body of this asymmetric triangle shawl is worked in a rib check pattern, a fun combination of knits and purls. The delicate lace border has a beautiful cabled eyelet pattern. Together they create an intriguing surface texture, yet the shawl is easy and relaxing to knit.

You’ll need about 628 m / 687 yds of fingering weight yarn.

Shown with Eden Cottage Yarns Bowland 4ply (100% BFL wool; 400 m / 437 yds per 100 g.), in colourRobin Egg.

Tiber

You’ll enjoy knitting the simple and relaxing stitch patterns in Tiber. This asymmetric triangle shawl is knitted on the bias, starting from one corner and working your way through to the opposite side. You’ll find moss stitch in the body and wavy lace in the border. The look is very sophisticated, yet soft.

You’ll need about 684 m / 748 yds of fingering weight yarn.

Shown with The Uncommon Thread Uncommon Everyday (100% merino; 400 m / 437 yds per 100 g.), in colour Into Dust.

Seine

Understated simplicity at its best, Seine is a modern and light shawl that’s enjoyable to knit. This asymmetric triangle shawl, knitted on the bias, has two parts. The body is a combination of garter stitch and stockinette stripes, for textural interest. The focal point is the delicate quatrefoil eyelet pattern on the border.

You’ll need about 681 m / 745 yds of fingering weight yarn.

Shown with Julie Asselin Fino (75% merino, 15% cashmere, 10% silk; 366 m / 400 yds per 115 g.), in colour Birch.

Said about the Mix & Match – Rivers

“Absolutely loved knitting this shawl. Quite an indulgence. Using three different body and border sections to produce 9 different shawl accessories is just so clever!

Here, I had combined the respective body and border sections from Seine and Elbe. The pairing of the ever so sublime welted texture with the rhythmic pseudo cabled eyelets was just a perfect symphony!

Simple for advanced beginners, yet engaging for the experienced knitters. There is nothing complicated with the pattern — the hardest part is choosing which sections to use, so I am off to knitting another one!”
